Matt Fortier is committed to collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches to social impact. Currently, Matt serves as the Director of Engagement with the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation, at Georgetown University. In this role, Matt carries out the Beeck Center’s mission as a training ground for students, developing experiential learning programs that engage a diverse set of students to equip them with the mindsets and skills to be successful 21st Century social impact leaders.
Previously, Matt managed the International Rescue Committee’s Economic Empowerment Program, providing career services to refugee and asylee populations to support them in achieving self-sufficiency and self-efficacy. Matt has also worked in Guinea, West Africa, where he implemented a train-the-trainer program that provided computer and English literacy instruction to professors, administrators, and students. Prior to working in the region, he administered the Fulbright Scholars Program in Sub-Saharan Africa with the Institute of International Education.
Matt graduated with his BA from Tufts University, majoring in International Relations and Philosophy. He speaks conversational French and beginner Spanish. In his free time, you can find Matt outdoors – with mountain biking, climbing, hiking, and camping atop his list of favorite activities.
